About 25 per cent of Saskatchewan’s population got vaccinated this year from influenza and that’s approximately half the number of people who were vaccinated during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.

“We saw something very similar to the pandemic year, more young people getting affected, said Dr. Saqib Shahab Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer.

“We also saw something that I think is really important to recognize most of the hospitalizations are for people who actually weren’t vaccinated.”

The best time to get the vaccine is October and November however drop in flu clinics are still available until Feb. 10.
