TORONTO – A nine-year-old boy who was rushed to hospital in Orangeville after an incident involving a snowbank on Wednesday has died.
Ontario Provincial Police Const. Paul Nancekivell confirmed the death Thursday morning.

The child was found under a pile of snow by his mother around 3:30 p.m. near the family’s house in Amaranth Township.
The exact cause of his death is still unknown.
The boy was taken to Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police are still investigating the incident and do not want to speculate about what the boy was doing in the snowbank.
A similar tragedy took place last month in Winnipeg where a nine-year-old boy was buried under a fallen snowbank outside his home. He died in hospital three days later.
