Rutland house fire sends boy to hospital

KELOWNA — A young Kelowna boy had to be taken to hospital Monday night to be treated for possible smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in the family home.

The incident happened at around 6 p.m. on Fleming Street in the city’s Rutland area.

Firefighters rushed to the scene following reports of flames shooting out the front door, but when they arrived they discovered the blaze was much smaller than initially thought.

A neighbor had used a fire extinguisher to put the fire.
