Crews were still working Friday morning to right derailed train cars and clean up a fuel spill that happened Thursday evening when 10 cars went off the rails at the Symington Yard in Transcona.
“At 6 p.m. last evening, we had 10 cars derail during routine yard operations in our Symington Yard,” said CN’s media spokesperson, Warren Chandler, “There were no injuries and there was some gasoline leaking out of one of the cars.”
The cause of the derailment is still under investigation, and workers were on-scene to handle and contain the fuel spill last night.
“The derailment occurred entirely within our yard, so there was no threat of any kind outside the yard,” Chandler added.
The gasoline spill was contained by 9 p.m. Thursday evening and cleaned up the next morning, and all of the derailed cars were removed by noon Friday.
