Edmonton – The Edmonton Eskimos and Kerry Joseph are going their separate ways.

The organization announced on Thursday they have released the veteran quarterback.

General Manager Ed Hervey said Joseph had asked to be released after the two had several recent conversations regarding the direction of the club.

“Kerry is a consummate professional. We value his contributions to the team, on and off the field, and wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” says Eskimos General Manager Ed Hervey.

“I’d like to personally thank the organization, fans, my teammates and coaches for the opportunity to continue to play the game I love in a great city with great people. Everyone will truly be missed from the bottom of my heart,” said Joseph.

During his four years with the Eskimos, Joseph completed 59 per cent of his passes for 2,660 yards, 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for 384 yards with 13 touchdowns.

During his 11-year CFL career, Joseph’s stats include:

  • 27,491 passing yards
  • 144 touchdown passes
  • 2,018-of-3,443 passes completed (59%) with 121 interceptions
  • 687 carries for 4,548 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns
