A Chicago native, Freddy Rodriguez began acting as a teen. By age 14, he starred in the pilot production of the city’s Whirlwind Performance Company, a theater company composed of youth at risk. Because of his outstanding work with the company, he received a two-year scholarship to the summer arts program at Chicago Center for the Gifted. Starring in more than 20 theater productions in his hometown, Rodriguez majored in drama at Chicago’s Lincoln Park High School, which specializes in the performing arts, and became heavily involved in Chicago’s early hip hop scene as a back-up dancer and choreographer.

Rodriguez earned an Emmy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, two Alma Awards, three Imagen Awards and two SAG Awards (for Best Ensemble Drama) for his role as Federico Diaz in the award-winning drama "Six Feet Under." He returned to series television in "Ugly Betty" as Giovanni, Betty’s love interest.

His feature film credits include "Bobby," "Nothing Like the Holidays," which he also executive produced, "Grindhouse," "Harsh Times," "Lady in the Water," "Poseidon," "Dreamer," "Havoc," "A Walk in the Clouds," "Dead Presidents" and "Payback."

Currently, Rodriguez lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons. His birth date is January 17.
