Hallmark Channel to shoot holiday movie in Montreal

'Northpole' will air on the Hallmark Channel in the U.S. during the holiday season.

TORONTO — If Montreal looks and feels like the Arctic this winter — well, that’s perfect.

The Hallmark Channel has chosen to shoot a movie called Northpole in Quebec in March.

The two-hour movie, which will air on the U.S. cable channel at the end of the year, is described as a “charming tale about a reporter who, with the help of her son and his teacher, recaptures the joy of the holiday season and in the process saves Christmas.”

It’s not yet known who will star in Northpole, which is directed by Douglas Barr and produced by Canada’s Muse Entertainment.

“We know Northpole will become that instant classic that our audience will want to see every year,” said Hallmark Channel programming executive Michelle Vicary, in a release.
