MONTREAL – A young woman is fighting for her life and five people were injured after a car accident on Pie-IX bridge on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place just after 1:30 a.m., when a minivan collided with a public bus, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

The accident closed the northbound lane of the bridge for several hours.

“The driver of the minivan was driving in the wrong direction,” Quebec provincial police spokesperson Gino Paré said.

“She is in critical condition and we fear for her life.”

The driver of the minivan was transferred to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Five people on the bus were also injured in the crash, including the driver, who suffered facial lacerations.
