HALIFAX — It’s the safest and cheapest fire truck you can crash in.
Halifax Fire is looking to buy a fire truck driving simulator.
A request for proposals published Tuesday seeks companies interested in submitting bids to deliver the simulator. The document states the fire service would use the new tool, “to provide training for its Fire & Emergency operations staff.”

The simulator requested would modify the interior of a pre-existing vehicle. The tender calls for three 50″ LED screens; working switches, pedals and gauges; as well as simulated noises and vibrations.
There is no budget listed for the new tool, however lower bids will be scored more favourably than higher ones.
Bidding closes Feb. 18, 2014.
