Vedder Mountain trails vandalized for second time in months

Mountain bikers in the Fraser Valley are outraged and say malicious vandals are putting their lives at risk.

The trail riders enjoy the challenge of the trails on Vedder Mountain, which include several jumps.

But for the second time in months, someone’s been deliberately destroying the wooden structures.

Vandals destroyed four obstacles along a mountain trail last week.

They took a chainsaw to the support pillars, forcing several ramps to collapse.

Volunteers maintain the Vedder Mountain trails and jumps. They were in the process of building a new one, and left several logs nearby, but those were also chopped up.

That’s after another trail was vandalized in December.

The Vedder Mountain Trails Association plans to install mention-sensor cameras nearby in case the vandals strike again.

In the meantime, mountain bikers are keeping their eyes open.

Volunteers are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprits.
