A judge is considering a severance hearing in the case of Michael Briscoe.
Briscoe is charged with first degree murder in the deaths of Nina Courtepatte and Ellie May Meyer. Both were killed in 2005.
In court on Monday morning, the defence applied to have the case separated into three trials, one for the murder of Ellie May Meyer, one for the murder of Nina Courtepatte, and one for the kidnapping and sexual assault of Nina Courtepatte.
The judge has reserved his decision until March 10.
