TORONTO – Air Canada has issued a travel alert and officials at Toronto Pearson International Airport are asking passengers to check their flight status following several centimetres of snow accumulation in the Greater Toronto Area overnight and into Friday morning.
The airport tweeted that snow clearing efforts and de-icing operations are under way.
As of 7:15 a.m. ET, 39 flights have been cancelled.
The advisory comes days after the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) issued an apology for major disruptions earlier this month when planes were not allowed to land for more than eight hours due to extreme cold weather.

The temporary ban of arrivals caused hundreds of flight cancellations and delays, with some passengers having to stay a hotels or sleep on the airport floor.
GTAA board chairman Vijay Kanwar said Wednesday he is committed to the review of airport operations and will be taking action based on those findings.
