The old house was packed full of the woman’s belongings, making the fire more difficult to extinguish, according to fire fighters.

The structure sustained significant damage, while the woman suffered burns and smoke inhalation and is being treated at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

Fire crews say the cat is still unaccounted for.
