QUEBEC – Geoffrey Kelley was named Thursday as native affairs minister as Liberal Premier Jean Charest shuffled his cabinet.
Kelley, MNA for the West Island riding of Jacques Cartier, previously held the same post, but was dropped from cabinet in 2007 when Charest downsized his inner circle.
Kelley replaces Pierre Corbeil in the portfolio. Corbeail was promoted to agriculture minister.
The premier also named three newcomers to his lineup: Pierre Moreau, MNA for Chateauguay, becomes intergovernmental affairs minister; Alain Paquet, MNA for Laval-des-Rapides, was sworn in as junior finance minister; Lucie Charlebois, MNA for Soulanges, was promoted to the cabinet-level position as government whip reponsible for assigning tasks to the other MNAs.
