IHIT called out to an incident in Richmond

UPDATE: The victim of the homicide has been identified as 23-year-old Johannes Foo of Richmond.

The cause of his death remains unknown.

Police say evidence gathered thus far suggests that this homicide was not a random act.

Richmond has registered its first murder of 2014 after the discovery of a man’s body.

Homicide investigators are looking for any information after a man was found injured near Steveston and No.3 Road in Richmond Monday night.

Members of the Richmond RCMP responded along with BC Ambulance and the Richmond Fire to a 911 call of an injured man found in the 8400 block of Steveston Hwy.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now taken over the case. This is Richmond’s first murder of 2014.

Investigators are looking for information from anyone who may have been in the area of Steveston Hwy between # 3 and #4 road between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m., on January 13, who observed anything suspicious to call the IHIT Tipline at 1-877-551-4448 by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
