Saskatchewan team wins 2014 BRIT basketball tournament

SASKATOON – For the first time in three years, a Saskatchewan team earned a chance to be crowned Bedford Road Invitational Tournament (BRIT) basketball champions.

Dr. Martin LeBoldus Catholic High School out of Regina punched their ticket to the prestigious championship game Saturday by defeating the Evan Hardy Souls of Saskatoon.

But Regina’s Golden Suns were in tough up against St. Paul’s Crusaders, the squad that defeated last year’s winner, the Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs.

The Suns won 76-53 to become 2014 BRIT champions.

Saskatoon’s Holy Cross was the last school from the province to win the tournament back in 2004.
