Police investigate suspicious death at gas station

VANCOUVER – Police are investigating the suspicious death Thursday evening of a young woman found in the parking lot of an east Vancouver Petro Canada gas station.

VPD Const. Jana McGuinness said officers were called to the 2200-block Kingsway Avenue around 7 p.m. by a male acquaintance of the woman who said she was unresponsive.

Efforts by emergency crews to revive her were unsuccessful.

McGuinness said investigators are still trying to determine the identity of the woman, who is believed to be in her 20s.

“We are treating it as a suspicious death until we can conclusively determine the cause of death through autopsy,” McGuinness said.

Further information isn’t expected to be made available until the autopsy has been concluded.
