Ke$ha seeks treatment for eating disorder

TORONTO — Pop star Ke$ha checked herself in to a residential treatment centre on Friday to deal with an eating disorder.

“I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice,” she said in a statement. “I’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder [and] to learn to love myself again. Exactly as I am.”

The singer did not disclose the name of the facility but, according to reports, it is Timberline Knolls near Chicago.

On Jan. 1, Ke$ha tweeted: “Cheers to this year being the best year ever. 2014 gon be the year of truth and freedom.”

The “Tik Tok” singer, whose full name is Kesha Sebert, currently has the hit “Timber” with Pitbull.

Timberline Knolls is best known for treating singer Demi Lovato in 2011.

A message on the facility’s website reads: “Our residents – adult women and adolescent girls – come to us when they need immediate, life-saving and life-changing help.”
