10-year-old N.B. boy located ‘safe and sound’ after going missing on dirt bike

People living in the New Brunswick community of Doaktown are breathing a sight of relief on Monday after a missing boy was safely found after a 12-hour search. The search operation began early Monday morning, including three search and rescue teams, family, and community members. A 10-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday afternoon has been found, according to the New Brunswick RCMP.

In an update published Monday at noon, police said Chase Swinamer, who was reported missing after last being seen on Grand Lake Road in the community of Doaktown, N.B., has been located “safe and sound.”

Extensive search efforts began in the area following the boy’s disappearance.

“He was driving an orange Coleman dirt bike with a milk crate attached,” police said in an initial statement regarding the boy’s disappearance.

Police said efforts from several groups including Irving Woodlands, the Doaktown Fire Department, the Department of Natural Resources, the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization, and three regional search and rescue teams assisted in locating Swinamer.

“We would also like to thank the members of the public who came to assist in searching for the boy,” police said.
