Small fire at Discovery Bay Resort

Investigators are trying to determine what caused a small fire at a downtown Kelowna condominium Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called out to the Discovery Bay Resort on Sunset Drive at approximately 11 am after receiving reports of smoke on a balcony.

An occupant of a fourth story unit spotted the small fire and called for help.

The fire department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a rescue squad and sixteen firefighters.

However, by the time they got there, the fire had already been extinguished.

Captain Gord Darchuk of the Kelowna Fire Department says there was a little smoke that came inside the building from the outside.

He says firefighters exposed the exterior wall to make sure the fire was completely put out.

No one was hurt.

The damage caused by the fire is minor.
