Waterfront ice rink finally fixed

It’s now a skater’s paradise.

Stuart Park skating rink in downtown Kelowna finally opened on Tuesday, more than two weeks after it was initially slated to open.

Barriers around the rink were taken down in the morning.

Families and kids were piling out of their cars before the official opening at 12 pm.

“I think it’s excellent,” said Brock Waldron, who was the first person on the ice. “I guess they had a few hiccups but it sounds like it’s going to work out now.”

City officials had postponed the original opening date of December 10th after a leak in the refrigeration system was discovered.
