FREDERICTON – The former campaign director of the New Brunswick New Democratic Party has announced he is running for the party leadership.
Dominic Cardy says it’s time for the party to change from just being a voice of protest to a party presenting a viable platform for New Brunswickers.
Former leader Roger Duguay quit in October and Jesse Travis has been filling in as the interim leader.
Cardy says Duguay has left the party with a strong base from which to build.
However, the party failed to get any member elected in the provincial election in September and have not had a seat in the legislature since 2005.
A leadership convention will be held in April.
