London, Ont., police say a dead body has been found in a house that went up in flames Saturday night.

Fire crews were called to a residence in the area of Becher Street and Wharncliffe Road shortly before 11 p.m.

The fire was extinguished, but Becher Street remains closed between Horn Street and The Ridgeway.

Damage is pegged at $1.5 million.

London police’s major crime unit is investigating.
