It has a goal of creating 4,200 new jobs in Winnipeg over the next five years and on Tuesday, Yes! Winnipeg hit the ground running.
More than 100 firms and organizations said yes to the new economic development plan, pitching in $4-million of the $6-million in pledges.
Yes! Winnipeg was created by the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce to attract new businesses to the city, including an NHL franchise.
“Certainly one of the things that will be critical for success is having the fan base and corporate support,” said Yes! Winnipeg’s Bill Morrissey. “One of the things we pride ourselves on is the relationships and connections we have in the community. So that might be an example of where we can rally behind to ensure the corporate community steps up and are supporting it to the extent they need.”
