The video shows the Oval at different times of day and in different weather conditions — sometimes empty, and sometimes full of skaters.

“It’s Journeyman’s Christmas gift to the city,” said Mathew Welsh, owner of Journeyman Film Company, in a press release.

The video description says the company began searching for the city’s “heart” in February and found it on the ice at the Halifax Common.

According to the municipality, 130,000 people skated on the Oval last winter.
