An Edmonton Eskimos player charged with kidnapping and assaulting a 20-year-old man has had his case put over until December.
Adam Braidwood, 26, and two other men were scheduled to make their first court appearance Wednesday in Stony Plain on charges related to cutting a man and locking him inside the trunk of a car. The case has been adjourned until Dec. 15.
Three men – Braidwood, Shane Gerald Bergstrom, 25, and Taylor Joel Kurtz, 23 – were arrested last week and later charged with assault and kidnapping.
The incident happened last Friday evening. Police responded to a witness report of several men forcing a man into the trunk of a car in southeast Spruce Grove at around 5:30 p.m. Minutes later, Stony Plain RCMP spotted the vehicle near by. A shirtless man with deep cuts to his arms and legs was outside the vehicle with one of the men, while Braidwood and another man were inside the car.
