SASKATOON – Buildings have been evacuated and Saskatoon traffic is restricted due to a natural gas leak.
Around 2:45 p.m., emergency services were notified of a damaged gas line at the intersection of Preston Avenue and Main Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a high pressure gas line leaking high concentrations in the immediate area.
Apartments on Main Street have been evacuated.
Police have closed off Preston between 8th and 14th Streets and set up road blocks on Main Street.
These traffic restrictions will remain in place for a considerable amount of time due to the size of the line that was damaged.
Fire crews will remain on site to monitor air quality and contain the area until repairs are completed.
No injuries have been reported.
