WATCH: Two sent to prison after brutal drunken assault in Kelowna

KELOWNA — It was extreme and senseless violence on a defenceless victim.

Thursday the judge came down hard on the two assailants who for no reason other than drunken aggression randomly attacked a man on a downtown Kelowna street. Both men pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

It happened late one night in March 2012. Rick Dennis and Daniel Orge knocked their victim to the ground and mercilessly beat him with their fists and feet until a police officer happened to come by.

Grant Brokvist, a visitor from Ontario, suffered permanent brain damage and facial disfigurement. Rick Dennis, who has a lengthy criminal history, was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Dennis Orge, who has no previous criminal record, was handed a two year term.
