Forget the sleigh, Santa’s got a bus

KELOWNA — Dozens of kids were treated with a visit from Santa on a bus Wednesday night.

It was all part of the 11th annual Kelowna Regional Transit Santa Sleigh Bus. The bus has been making a pit stops around the Central Okanagan, and on Wednesday it was at the Mcdonald’s Restaurant in Rutland.

The bus will be going around to schools in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country until Saturday collecting toys, food donations and money for the Salvation army.

Volunteers say there’s nothing more satisfying then seeing a child’s eyes light up when they get on the bus.

“It’s usually the wow factor. The kids they see the bus all lit up, and when they get inside they’re like  ‘Cool, this is awesome, can we have this all the time?'” said Bernard the Elf, one of Santa’s helpers.
