Shots fired at home of Hindu temple president’s son in Surrey, B.C.

A temple president is trying to figure out why his son's home was targeted this week, The first of three shootings in the city in just three days. No one was injured, but the threat was real. Julia Foy reports police are trying to sort out what's going on – Dec 30, 2023

Members of the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir temple in Surrey, B.C., have confirmed its president’s son’s home was the target of a shooting on Wednesday.

Surrey RCMP said the shooting happened around 8 a.m. on Dec. 27.

Investigators said they found bullet holes in the home and the investigation is ongoing.

Global News spoke with the temple’s president Satish Kumar, Saturday afternoon.

“My son heard a gunshot, gun shots happened in his garage,” he said.

“There is damage on the doors. Glass was broken. It is very disturbing to the family.

“We don’t have issues with anybody. We need to help the police as a community to find who did this. There is a lot of violence happening in Surrey, right now. It is not safe.”

At this time, police said the motive for the shooting is unknown.
