Fire in Rosemont leaves 10 homeless

MONTREAL — A fire broke out on Fabre street near Belanger in Montreal’s Rosemont/La Petite Patrie neighbourhood early Monday morning.

The violent blaze started on the duplex’s ground floor and has left ten people without a home.

More than 50 firefighters were called in a little after midnight.

They had the blaze under control around 1:30 am.

Two residents were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Police say neither is in a life threatening condition.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
