Snow Route Parking Ban ends

CALGARY – A Snow Route Parking Ban put in place on Wednesday morning was lifted at 6 a.m. on Friday, after being in place for almost 24 hours.

Over 1,000 tickets have been handed out to vehicles that were illegally parked along snow routes, and another 360 warnings were handed out.

This was the fifth Snow Route parking ban the city has called. The longest ban occurred on January 11, 2013 for 36 hours, where Calgary saw 24 cm with weather conditions significantly milder than this week’s severe snow storm.

Residents parked on designated Snow Routes must move their vehicles – and can be ticketed or towed if they don’t.

Snow Routes include major roadways, collector roads and most bus routes, and are marked by blue signs with a white snowflake.
