Grade 12 students made their way through the University of Regina’s “˜What is Engineering?’ exhibit today, learning about what they can expect if they choose to join the faculty next year.
On display were two past U of R race cars, one of which, the Baja Dune Buggy, will be brought out of retirement this year for an International Collegiate All Terrain Vehicle Competition.
“We’re going to be jumping the car,” says U or R Business student Luke Sheheen, “going through a three hour endurance race, stuff like that. Really pushing the car to its limits.”
The activity is open to all active undergrad students at the U of R. Students take part in everything from project management to fabrication and design.
“We’re not doing the book learning all the time; we get to do the fun stuff too.”
