The South Okanagan Traffic Services and the Kelowna and Keremeos detachments of the Integrated Road Safety Units (IRSU) recently conducted a traffic enforcement campaign.
RCMP used an Automatic License Recognition Program to search a database and identified 241 offending vehicles in two days.
Below are some of the charges:
– 13 charges for drivers without insurance
– 16 charges for drivers without a valid license
– 1 charge for driving while prohibited
– 8 driving prohibitions issued as per instruction by the Motor Vehicle Branch
– 2 vehicles were impounded
– 1 recovery of a stolen validation tag
– 33 other Motor Vehicle Act charges for various offences
The South Okanagan Traffic Services and the Keremeos IRSU also conducted operation “Click it or Ticket” in Penticton at the end of October.
The purpose of the campaign is to promote awareness of wearing a seatbelt.
Police issued the following charges:
– 39 tickets for “Failing to Wear Seatbelt”
– 11 tickets for “Use of an Electronic Device while Driving”
– 34 tickets for moving violations
– 6 tickets for drivers license violations
