Emergency crews responded to a location on Highway 23, south of Township Road 162, shortly after 6:30 p.m. for reports of a collision involving a car and a truck.

A preliminary investigation by RCMP determined the driver of the northbound car, a resident of Edmonton, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an oncoming truck.

The Edmonton man was taken by ambulance to hospital but died a short time later.

The two occupants of the truck were not seriously injured.

According to RCMP, poor road conditions are believed to have contributed to the fatal crash.
