Storm’s Gillespie receives goaltender of the week honours

Brayden Gillespie of the Guelph Storm has been named the OHL goaltender of the week.

The 18-year-old Oakville native had wins in back-to-back games: Friday night vs. Barrie and Saturday night vs. Kingston.

Gillespie stopped 20 shots in a 3-1 win over the Colts and made 19 more saves against the Frontenacs in a 6-2 victory.

He posted a 1.50 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage in those two games.

Gillespie is 5-2-0-0 on the season with a 1.88 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and a shutout.

He and the rest of the Storm are on the road for the next two games.

They are in North Bay Thursday night to face the Battalion at 7 p.m. before heading to Sudbury Friday night to meet the Wolves at 7:05 p.m.

Guelph returns home Sunday for a 2 p.m. matinee against the Ottawa 67’s at Sleeman Centre.
