Three boys have been arrested after police in Toronto accused them of breaking into a subway operating cab and broadcasting a fake bomb threat.
Toronto police said the hoax bomb announcement led to the evacuation of St. Patrick subway station in downtown Toronto.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. on Oct. 18, at the height of the evening commute.
Police said three 17-year-olds were on a southbound Line 1 subway train and got into the rear operator cab of the train.
They allegedly broadcast a message to passengers saying there was a bomb on the train.
According to officers, they then fled the station with stolen goods.
St. Patrick station was closed while police investigated the bomb threat and eventually reopened. No one was injured.
The three 17-year-olds, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, face a charge each of mischief over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and common nuisance.
