TORONTO – A designer gown for 99 cents? It sounds too good to be true, but a Canadian luxury label is luring shoppers to eBay on Cyber Monday to start the bidding.

Canadian label VAWK is once again partnering with eBay Canada for a special holiday collection.

The collection, on sale Monday and running until Dec. 8, features leather cuffs and collars, leopard pocket squares and silk scarves.

The highlight of the collection is a winter-white formal gown that will be sold at auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to Kids Help Phone.

The holiday capsule collection follows a hugely successful debut of VAWK for eBay by Sunny Fong, which was 90 per cent sold out in the first 48 hours.

VAWK isn’t the first designer eBay has teamed up with for capsule collections.

Earlier this year, the online marketplace launched “You Can’t Fake Fashion,” a tote bag collection in collaboration with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

The “You Can’t Fake Fashion” campaign was meant to raise awareness of counterfeiting in the fashion industry.

eBay joins a long list of retailers, including Target and H&M, that regularly team up with high-end designers to sell capsule collections at significantly lower prices.
