The situation was resolved around 4:00 p.m. Neither inmate was hurt.

Alberta Justice and Solicitor General spokesman Dan Laville said a weapon was involved, but said he wouldn’t divulge details because of a pending police investigation.

The new facility — located at 127 Street near the Anthony Henday — opened in April 2013. It has a maximum bed capacity of 1,952.
