Toronto police officers were searching for a woman named Tulip, who was last seen on Sept. 29 at around 5:27 p.m. in the Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue area.

In an update Friday afternoon, Duty Insp. Suzanne Redman said was found dead earlier in the day, around 11:30 a.m.

“She was found in a wooded area in the vicinity of Bayview and Lawrence, just outside of the area that police were actively searching,” Redman said.

“This area has a number of trails and a member of the public found Tulip and called police. This is obviously not the outcome that we were hoping for and our hearts go out to Tulip’s family and friends.”

Redman said the investigation is ongoing and asked that members of the public who may have seen Tulip over the past few days still contact police.

When asked if there was any indication of how Tulip may have died, Redman said she couldn’t answer definitively but added, “It does appear that there’s nothing suspicious.”

Tulip’s cause of death will be determined by the coroner’s office.

Redman said it’s not clear when exactly Tulip may have died.

“We won’t know that until after the coroner has conducted his investigation, unfortunately,” Redman said.

“I know that our last sighting on video was on Saturday. Other than that, I can’t tell you.”
