Taiwan’s known for its delicious eats, but where did these wonderful flavours come from? This year, TAIWANfest is taking a good look in the mirror and asking everyone to consider your roots, history, and unique experiences that lead to the you of today. The island once known as Formosa has been colonized and occupied by many different peoples and cultures. This is no clearer shown than in the dishes served on the dining table. Food is not only a source of sustenance, but also an important cultural symbol. Through fusion flavours, TAIDOG explores the island nation’s complicated and colourful past. Take a bite into the hot dog topped with familiar tastes such as three-cup chicken, cold pork ear, and more. Can you taste the history and the ever-evolving taste buds of the beautifully diverse Taiwanese people? Let us know your favourite flavour! Join us Sept 2-4 in Downtown Vancouver.
