Join Avenue Calgary on June 14, at Platform Innovation Centre to connect with Calgary’s innovation leaders at Avenue‘s annual Innovation Event followed by a networking hour!
Panel information:
There will be a panel on women in tech & leadership, for women and gender non-conforming folks in tech leadership positions with April Hicke, co-founder, Toast, Neetu Sidhu, chair of the board of directors, Chic Geek, Alanna Wellwood, principal of Strathcona Tweedsmuir and Renee Matsalla, co-founder, Tacit Edge.
Ken Cameron will do a presentation on psychedelic leadership training, talking about how Alberta is leading the way in psychedelic research and usage and what this can mean for high level leaders looking to innovate in any sector.
They’ll be a discussion on disrupting startup culture, questioning what stereotypes we reinforce in the language and structures used to define a “successful startup” and how to envision a more inclusive future for start up founders. Currently Peter Fenwick, Director of Scaleup and Growth Programs at MRU is a confirmed panelist.
A session on AI will be held with the intention to spark discussion about how we use AI in our daily lives and to get attendees feedback on their thoughts/fears/questions about AI writing.
Innovation in Fashion session to explore wearable tech. The concept is to have a short presentation/introduction of wearable tech today. We hope to have actual models wearing interesting, wearable tech garments during the reception that attendees can see or have wearable tech garments on display that attendees can interact with.
Keynote: Live interview & Q&A on venture capital funding. James Lochrie will be interviewed on stage by journalist Leah Sarich discussing the future of venture capital funding in Alberta, ecosystem trends to watch for, angel investments & the formation of their investment thesis – egs. Symend and StellarAlgo + other “soonicorns”, and the future of the AB Innovation ecosystem.
The night closes out with the food of the Future Showcase & Reception showcasing local companies who are driving innovation in the food and agricultural sectors with samples of their products for attendees. Hubba Khartoon, Regional Innovation Director for Prairies at the Canadian Food Innovation Network will do a mini presentation to kick this off.
