At its next performance, a Benefit for One Roof Community Centre, the Peterborough Concert Band under Music Director and Conductor Saman Shahi, will present the world premiere of Canadian composer Sina Fallah’s Transfiguration. This clarinet concerto features Soloist Katherine Carleton with the Peterborough Concert Band. In addition to being an accomplished clarinetist, Ms. Carleton is Executive Director of Orchestras Canada.
Mr. Fallah’s interest in psychology and music education led him to cutting edge research labs of music and cognition. After graduating from the University of Toronto, he founded and directed the Centre for Music Education & Cognition. He served as music director for the 50+ program at the Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson, now Toronto Metropolitan University.
In addition to this Premiere, the concert includes Christmas offerings such as excerpts from the Nutcracker Suite, Shelley Hanson’s arrangement of Patapan, and traditional songs such as Greensleeves and the Banks of Green Willow. The audience will also be treated to Christmas Favourites, The Bells of Christmas, Christmas Festival, Sleigh Ride and other seasonal delights.
