The Institute for Canadian Citizenship is proud to present the 19th LaFontaine-Baldwin Lecture, Reconciliation and the evolution of Canada, delivered by Canada’s Governor General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon.
The historical narrative of Canada has often ignored Indigenous voices and stories, negatively influencing how Indigenous peoples have been treated and perceived in this country. Many newcomers to Canada have limited or no experience with Indigenous issues, people, or culture throughout their citizenship journey. For newcomers to join the parallel path toward reconciliation, they need to understand Canada’s true history. This historic event promises an evening of insightful discussion and important commentary on Reconciliation and the evolution of Canada.
Doors open at 6:00 PM for a reception featuring local entertainment and light refreshments. The official program begins at 8:00 PM. For tickets, please visit: https://bit.ly/3qq23Qq
