YWCA Virtual Challenge

Help make a difference for local women and children experiencing an increase in abuse within our community!

Starting May 3rd, show women – our mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, grandmas – some love and support in the month of May by choosing an activity (run, walk, virtual dinner, reaching out by phone calls, selling flowers, etc.), set and reach a fundraising goal and challenge someone (friends, family member, coworker, other business) to do the same!

We’ve all felt more stressed since the COVID-19 pandemic began, but for women who experience violence in their own homes, the stress has meant increased anger, control and even cruelty. Throughout Canada and around the world, women’s organizations are reporting that the need for safety and support has increased by 30-40%.

Together, we can ensure that YWCA Peterborough Haliburton remains a strong, reliable source of support for women and children in our community who are escaping violence. By ensuring that there is safe shelter, 24 Hour Support & Crisis Line, court support, transitional support staff and our food program continue to be available during – and after – the COVID-19 crisis.
