The annual HART Ceremony, is an international remembrance ceremony conducted by Canadian Air, Army and Sea Cadets and American Civil Air Patrol Cadets from six states. We have cadets from all over Alberta attending including the 7 squadrons from Calgary, High River and Strathmore. What began as a small outdoor ceremony at the Coutts international border in December 2012 has now evolved into the largest international HART Ceremony in North America. Due to weather conditions the Ceremony was moved to Lethbridge in 2014 and had been held there ever since.
In attendance at every ceremony has been members of the Canadian Memorial Cross Families. They are our very special VIPs as they lost a son or daughter in combat. We are also honoured to have American Gold Star Wives – the equivalent of our Memorial Cross Families in attendance. Each year we also have dignitaries attend such as the Mayors of Lethbridge and Taber, ranking military members from the Canadian Forces and the American Civil Air Patrol, Canadian and American veterans and the general public.
This year we are doing things a little different. We are holding the ceremony virtually with the host site being the Bomber Command Museum in Nanton for the MC and a few local speakers. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we are limiting the contact with cadets and other dignitaries to virtual participation. The ceremony will be held on Saturday November 14th, 2020 starting at 1100 hours. Please sign in starting at 10:30 a.m. to ensure your system is good and to watch a slide show about our Alberta Air Cadets and the Rocky Mountain Region CAP.
