Ukama Gallery on Granville Island is honoured to present our first “Art Through The Window” exhibition in the time of COVID-1, featuring the latest work of internationally renowned artist, Paul Ygartua. Due to unprecedented times, we have moved our walls to facilitate a walk-by/window browsing opportunity to view this unique exhibition by Paul Ygartua – THE COVID-19 SERIES. Beginning a tour of his latest work, Ygartua will present an extensive collection of large canvases honouring the work of Frontline Workers. On the theme of the world coming together to fight an invisible enemy – COVID-19, the exhibit pays tribute to the strength of being together, on working towards a solution to win the war on the coronavirus pandemic. Ygartua has drawn on the deepest depths of his imagination to offer his audience a message in many forms, from fantasy to realism, in order to express his gratitude and record through his art, the historic events unfolding before us all. Featured in four unique series. Each focuses on separate aspects of what we are all living through. ‘Frontline Workers’ portrays the gratitude we have towards the brave heroes who are fighting the pandemic, ‘The Dream’ is Ygartua’s interpretation of our search to understand the current situation, ‘Under Siege’ takes us on a journey to some of the world’s largest cities, and ‘A World United’ expresses the unity and compassion that has come forth. Take a leisurely stroll around the gallery’s exterior windows to experience this amazing collection. Indoor viewing of additional works can be safely accommodated by appointment or during limited opening hours posted on the gallery website: ukama.ca.
