Loss & Living: Meaningful Mosaics with Monica Brinkman

Creativity is one way to explore and express loss and grief, bringing bits and pieces together in a meaningful mosaic of memory. Meaningful Mosaics offers participants an opportunity to create a mosaic-inspired artwork measuring 12 x 12 inches on a circular plywood, including a photograph of a person they have lost or a meaningful image. They may also bring special objects to include in their piece, such as jewelry, tea cup, dish, shell, rock…or any small object which has a significant meaning in relation to their loved one or themselves. Often when we lose someone, we hang onto sentimental objects of our loved one. This is a beautiful way to incorporate these objects into something meaningful. Just as music, smells and places can evoke many memories and bring you back in time, objects can have the same impact on us. All other materials and tools necessary for the creation of mosaics will be provided. ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Monica Brinkman is an award-winning contemporary mosaic artist who has been hosting community and group workshops for over 10 years. She finds this a great way to connect, share and talk with others or simply connect with oneself. Monica says, “the process of mosaic art is very meditative and intuitive.
