The Calgary Bach Choir’s first concert of the season brings together the brilliance of Bach the father with the exuberance of his youngest son, Johann Christian. The programme includes three J.S. Bach gems: “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” from Cantata 147, “Air” from Orchestra Suite No. 3, and the festive Sanctus in D Major, BMV 238 together with the passionate “Gloria in excelsis Deo” by Bach’s youngest son, Johann Christian; dating from the days when he was known as ‘The Milan Bach’.
