Stories Under The Stars – The Stardust Festival The Stardust Festival of plays – directed by Dante Ambriel and produced by Tashi Draper of Flowing Arts Studio – promises to bring three evenings of top-notch auditory theatre to Denman Island this August 10, 11, 12 at 8pm. Presented on a 40 acre farm under a blanket of shooting stars on three warm summer evenings at the height of the Perseid Meteor Showers – we invite you to come and listen to 6 plays over three evenings. Watch the shooting stars fly by as the stories carry your imagination off to other worlds. Here is a list of the dates, times and a short synopsis of all six plays: FRIDAY AUGUST 10 at 8 pm – BROKEN ANGEL written and directed Dante Ambriel, this moving story is about a homeless woman who is brought into Vancouver General Hospital with a head injury. Unable to speak, she struggles to reclaim her identity by using the transformational power of song to reach out, find and reconnect with her loved ones with the help of a detective, a nun, a murderess, a therapist and many more intriguing characters. Nine songs will be performed live on stage. SATURDAY AUGUST 11 at 8 pm – ABRACADABRA This romantic comedy written and directed by Dante Ambriel is about the power of love to conquer all. This magical, musical, romantic romp through Hollywood follows a fifteen year old as he tries to get his famous estranged parents back together. Encounter an opera Prima Donna, a psychic Countess, a Producer, a New York theatre Directer, a sexy starlet, and a magical singing demon who comes to earth to find his true love. Visit film sets, screening rooms and finally sit in on the Academy Awards. “All’s well that ends well” in this playful satire about life and love in Hollywood. Seven songs will be preformed live on stage. SUNDAY AUGUST 12 at 8 pm – AN EVENING OF FOUR SHORT PLAYS The Woman Who Does Laundry by Lorraine Martinuik, is a haunting tale set on an isolated farm in BC. The Visitor by Dawn Stoffer, is a tender comedy about a sudden visitor who humorously disrupts the quiet life of an eccentric island resident. Home by Mike White is a stunning monologue about displacement and the concept of home. At Home with The Trumps by Bill Engleson is an outrageous comedy disclosing the inner and outer mind-workings of Donald Trump. Tickets available through Flowing Art Studio flowing@telus.net.
